You never know who you’re going to see at a Sofar. While the list goes on and on of outrageously talented artists, we’re keeping this particular one short and sweet– here are 4 talented musicians you might recognize who’ve brought their gift to our secret live concerts.
1. Ed Sheeran – Perfect | Sofar Washington, DC – GIVE A HOME 2017
Ever heard of Ed Sheeran? The most streamed artist of the 2010s decade on Spotify? Has been nominated for more than 300 prizes? The man knows his way around a guitar and a catchy pop song. In 2017, he teamed up with Sofar, along with Amnesty International, and thousands of people around the world to show support for refugees. Watch his flawless delivery of the simple pop tune “Perfect”.
2. YEBBA – My Mind | Sofar NYC
Before she was collaborating with Drake, even before the release of her breakthrough single “Evergreen”, we got to see familiar face Abigail Elizabeth Smith, also known as YEBBA, share this stunning Sofar. Each watch remains just as potently powerful. And speaking of Ed Sheeran, when he saw this performance, it made him cry. Then, he signed her to his own label, Gingerbread Man Records.
3. Hozier – From Eden | Sofar Manchester
Recognize him? Maybe you’ll remember his song “Take Me To Church” that he wrote between open mics in Dublin, which turned into a multi-platinum hit. Right around the time he was releasing his eponymous album that hit number one on the Billboard charts in Ireland, the singer/songwriter joined us for a completely stripped down, highly intimate Sofar.
4. Leon Bridges – Lisa Sawyer | Sofar Dallas – Fort Worth
It felt like there was a time where you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing Leon Bridges over the speakers– and it was awesome, because his music is incredible. But before all that, he gave this enchanting, almost lullaby-esque performance of “Lisa Sawyer.” After watching this, it comes as no surprise that 40 labels tried to sign Leon before he chose Columbia Records.
