Durjoy Choudhury has been making music since 2005 and writing songs, for as long. Based out of Kolkata, he has been performing his all-original setlists since 2010, first with his country-rock band, ‘Bee and the Buskers’; and now with his indie-rock trio, ‘Murphy’s Paradox’. His solo setlist, though is an original heavy repertoire, also includes songs that he really likes, ranging from Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, to projects like Jealous of the Birds, Arctic Monkeys and Avett Brothers. Though, Durjoy should have recorded and published more songs than what he already has, he has started releasing, one single at a time, since December, 2023 – Museum of Stolen Letters, Younger Than Now and then a song in Bangla, Jadughor in February, 2024. He is planning to release two more singles and a three-song EP, in 2024. With his band, however, he has already released several singles and an EP called ‘Lost Astronauts’ and are presently working on an 8-song album, “Something Like Love”, that is projected to release later in 2024. Back in 2016, when Durjoy was offered, by a sound-engineer, to record his songs, he instead insisted on recording the whole city. And the two formed “Friday Night Originals”, a YouTube channel, where they documented originals by indie acts, from all across the country, across 4 seasons of a total of 64 episodes. Friday Night Originals also has two seasons recorded and shot in Melbourne, Australia, and one in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Durjoy Choudhury has performed in Sofar Kolkata and Sofar Kochi.
