Sofar event description

In partnership with our friends at Sound Mind and National Alliance on Mental Health of New York City (NAMI-NYC), this show is dedicated to the topic of mental health. Stigma is one of the leading causes preventing those who live with mental illness from seeking the care and support they need - for fear of judgment by their friends, family, and in the workplace. The need to create an active dialogue around mental health has never been so crucial. This concert is one of a three part series leading up to the Sound Mind Benefit Concert on May 13 at Rough Trade NYC. Sound Mind brings together artists, speakers, and organizations to build a supportive community surrounding mental health. NAMI-NYC serves over 13,000 individuals in the New York City metro area affected by mental illness each year through education support, and advocacy.

What is a Sofar?

A Sofar will typically feature three acts, with no opener or headliner. Each lineup is carefully curated to give audiences a diverse show and artists equal attention. We request that guests arrive on time for the first act and stay through the entirety of the show. During the sets, we ask guests to refrain from talking or texting.
