This VOX Network pod picks apart the biggest hits of our time, but through the technical lenses of theory, musicology, and more. Charlie Harding and Nate Sloan provide me with the perfect entry point to appreciating pop music. — Matt, NYC
Shon Cobbs, former Sofar Denver leader started Behind The Scene Podcast that "seeks to capture the independent artist’s story in a unique, casual, and intimate setting." Similar to Song Exploder with a focus on shining the spotlight on not only national acts, but local as well. — Brandy, Denver
I’m a new fan of this nearly 80-year-old radio program from the BBC. The premise is simple but packs a big emotional punch — basically, a British celebrity picks eight songs, a book and a luxury item they’d bring with them to a desert island. In between song clips they weave together stories from their lives, making me tear up at least once an episode. Since I’m not British, I thought I wouldn’t care about the interviews since I don’t know most of the celebrities, but I’m learning about so many fascinating people! —Brandy, São Paulo
This one episode look at Tyler the Creator’s latest album, IGOR, is a short, insightful deep-dive into the mastery of one of my favorite records. I listened to this episode on a two-hour drive to Chicago to see the IGOR show in person, and it added even more life to the songs and verses that I already loved. — Mara, NYC
Trying to boil Time Crisis down makes it sound bizarre. But I promise, it’s a beautiful and inspiring show. It’s hosted by Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) and Jake Longstreth (American Painter and musician) Sundays on Beats 1 Radio. TC is the only show I know that can interview Justin Vernon, breakdown corporate food history, and deep dive into the nuances of the A Star is Born Universe with genuine curiosity and joy. This show rules and so does the community it’s built. Any other TC heads out there? —Max, Los Angeles
They're nice and short too. An artist comes on to explain step-by-step how a song was created. I love seeing the thought behind how they came together, how some elements were pure accidents, or how they just winged it. — Erica, Boston
Rick Rubin and Malcolm Gladwell talking to some seriously amazing and influential artists and songwriters. Linda Perry was one of my favourite episodes. ✌️— Natasha, London
