With hundreds of shows around the world each month, countless memorable moments happen at Sofar. Here are just a few of the special shows we put on in the past few weeks!
Sofar Chicago featured stripped-down sets from artists playing Lollapalooza’s massive stages the same weekend as the huge summer festival. Chance the Rapper collaborator Grace Weber, dreamy synth-pop singer Morgan Saint and Chicago rising rapper Femdot played in a picturesque garden. A few days later, Norwegian electronic artist Lido went from playing the festival and an after party with Chance and Jaden Smith to a beautiful rooftop with a sweeping skyline view… completely acoustic!
We love when the Sofar community can come together across the world. While in Peru on vacation, Sofar Founder and CEO Rafe attended a Sofar Lima show featuring sets from Negra Valencia, Alex Darko and Teniente Cooper. After the show, the team put on a Peruvian-style barbecue with drinks and more music. Bonus: Sofar Buenos Aires City Leader Hernán was also in town!
The Vancouver team road-tripped outside the city to put on a secret show in the remote woods at Ponderosa Festival. Featuring unplugged performances from artists playing the main stages later that day, the magical show took place in the morning in the forest and was found out about from word of mouth.
Normally we pop a squat on the ground at Sofar shows, but Dutch band The Cool Quest got Sofar Hamburg grooving at their recent show under a circus tent. When closer The Cool Quest started their set, everyone was still nicely sitting on the floor like at a regular show, but after the first song, the music was just too funky to remain seated, and people got up and started dancing along to their hip-hop beats. The Cool Quest ended up melding their songs together to create one really long, dance-filled medley.
Sofar 70 floors up! The OUE Skyspace features an open air observation deck and for those brave enough, a 45 foot slide down the side of the building! Sofar LA headed indoors though, for a show featuring sets from Morgan Jay, Raquel Rodriguez and Weapons of Mass Creation, all with a stunning sunset and night view of the City of Angels as a backdrop.
