While we’re admittedly glad to be saying goodbye to 2020, we can’t take for granted the many moments that got us through it. We compiled some of our favorite joyful music moments from the past year. Take a look!
If you didn’t love Lizzo before this killer performance and flute solo, you do now.
In an ode to the frontline workers who worked to keep us safe and alive, New York started the 7 o’clock cheer — in true New York style of course.
Nicholaus Braun (from HBO’s hit show, Succession) made a COVID-themed song that had all the laughter and quarantine angst we needed.
The legend himself started an at-home concert series to keep us entertained at the start of quarantine, and we all loved it just as much as Chrissy Teigen did.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion collabed to make this hit song and it was just as iconic as we expected.
The Queen released her highly anticipated visual album, Black Is King, on Disney+, and yes it was a gift. Tbh, we’re still processing.
The ten-time Grammy winner gave us all the moody, ethereal vibes we needed to get through 2020, not once but twice.
To know him is to love him. Watch the video to see why he took over Tik Tok, and our hearts this year.
Sad rock queen Phoebe Bridgers promised on election day that she’d cover The Goo Goo Dolls’, “Iris,” if Joe Biden won the presidential race, and Maggie Rogers offered to harmonize. They proved their women of their word and they also raised $173,703.95 for FairFight, Stacy Abrams’ organization fighting voter suppression in Georgia.
Her stripped-down Tiny Desk performance with fellow Sofar alum and brother, Finneas, had all of the sad, beautiful feels in a raw, vulnerable package we couldn’t get enough of.
“This video is dedicated to touch.” The sexy, stylish, colorful music video reminded us all mid-pandemic of the things we took for granted pre-pandemic. Needless to say, we’ll be streaming “Watermelon Sugar” and hugging everyone we know as soon as this pandemic is over.
