Zaac Pick

Singer-songwriter Zaac Pick's has been steadily refining his brand of confessional folk-pop since 2010, with a string of EPs and and two LPs that have earned him regional songwriting awards and nominations, CBC support, opening slots for the likes of The Civil Wars, Noah Gundersen, and Bahamas — as well as numerous features for his songs on major network television shows. Released in the first few months of 2020, his latest album (the aptly-named, Passages), finds Pick exploring themes of transition, and the disorienting uncertainty that often surrounds these seasons. Whether it's through a reflection on male vulnerability ('Strong Enough'), a cathartic portrait of a struggle with anxiety and depression ('Lighter Side Of Blue'), or the confusion of a 30-something life crisis ('Play Pause Rewind' — co-written with Broken Social Scene’s Jason Collett), 'Passages' further reveals Pick as a songwriter who creates moving impressions of complex feelings we recognize, but often cannot voice as clearly. In June of 2021, Pick released a deluxe edition of 'Passages', that added 4 sparsely re-imagined tracks, whose newly exposed lyrics take on new meaning now that the world has shifted under our feet — one can't help but think of the everyday things previously taken for granted, now held a little closer.
