XHU

XHU is a musical project which introduces an alternative view of music; it's a lab of new sounds and rhythmic solutions through an innovative language. XHU comes from an idea of Alessandro Capasso, voice of the band but, firstly, creator of the new language from which the band takes its name. Initially Xhu language was just a written code that, over time and studies, has evolved into phonetic and oral. This new idiom has also its own grammar. Every song is written and sung in Xhu, this way represents the strenght and the exclusivity of the project. The new language was created by Alessandro Capasso when he was only a kid who wanted to hide his secrets and thoughts from the rest of the world. After years of study on cryptograms and characters, Xhu became a written and spoken language, a unique case all over Europe. The sound of the XHU is deeply influenced by artists like Peter Gabriel, Genesis, TV on the Radio and many other artists of the global rock stage. Moreover, travels represent for Alessandro Capasso another fundamental influence. Different shades are traceable in XHU lyrics and sounds and they have their roots in those places which were visited, filmed, photographed during travels across Africa, India, China, Middle East and Europe. Only real destination: the sound. It is not possible to minimize all the influences of the band in one musical genre. It might be electronic, if we consider the use of technology for composing music and creating sounds. In addiction, there is the ability to use multiple elements, such as futuristic synth and unusual instruments like pieces of wood and brass. Capasso frequently experiments tools that are distant from being traditional, but that can be reinveted to produce unique sounds. One of them is the typewriter. The extensive use of recording tricks and sound effects fuses with bows and guitar riffs; a strong attention is always given to rhytm, modulation, simple and powerful emotion. The XHU music is a mix of rock, pop, electro and a lot of research. It is a sound fusion which aims to give back a unique feeling to the audience. The first XHU single, Nheven, was published on May 22nd; the second one, Whelh, has been previewed on Rolling Stone on Novembre 27th.
