Trust Samende

Trust Samende, is a versatile electric lead and acoustic guitar player. Born on 31 March in 1987 in the small town of Chinotimba in Victoria Falls, this son of a keen musician, learnt to read music at the tender age of ten, and since then has not looked back, proving that his mantra of putting his heart into his music can only bring positive results. Trust is best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the highly acclaimed and award winning band Mokoomba, with whom he achieved worldwide success since joining the band in 2008. When not busy with Mokoomba, which is very rare as the band has been in high demand at prestigious festivals at home and beyond the borders, Trust works as a session musician with some of Zimbabwe’s top acts. This humble Zimbabwe College of Music alumnus, who has been mentored by South African award winning guitarist Jimmy Dludlu, and local jazz giant Filbert Marova, also plays keyboards with as much skill as he does the lead and acoustic, although he prefers to focus on perfecting his guitar playing skills. Having risen from very humble beginnings in Victoria Falls, where he made his debut playing in a restaurant while still in high school, to brief but lucrative stints in Botswana and South Africa, Trust does not take anything for granted and credits his success to years spent practising and working on his craft, the result of this being his electrifying stage presence which has made him a sought after act in local and international bands. He is one of the few musicians with a unique ability to play a wide range of styles from afro-jazz, rumba, sungura, reggae to jazz classics.
