Influenced by traditional music from the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America, Triana y Luca express an intimate encounter between folklore and storytelling. Bringing a new perspective to popular music and cultural legends, their sound reflects a deep exploration of ancient knowledge, nature, sorrow, and love. Both artists are first, second, and third-generation immigrants. Triana is Mexican/Spanish/Canadian and Luca is Canadian/Spanish/Luxembourgish. The duo met in the Netherlands and connected over their shared heritage and love for cultural folklore. Intrigued into researching lost traditions, traditional music and storytelling, the duo dove into an exploration of their Spanish & Latin American diasporic identities. Neither grew up playing traditional music from their cultures; but now, together they started to re-learn traditional Iberoamerican music styles and look into the music of their families. Triana y Luca released their first two singles, "Raíz" and "Recuerdos de Tánger" off their debut EP which comes out this June 2023. Mixing eclectic styles, their EP is a collection of stories and songs inspired by different folkloric backgrounds.
Triana y Luca has performed in Sofar Amsterdam and Sofar Madrid.
