Singer songwriter Steph Wood is an artist on the rise. Steph shares stories through her introspective, folk-rock sound that you would expect to hear from an artist far further into their career. Steph’s vulnerable story-telling matched with infectious melodies are sure to keep you enthralled. Through attending local open mic nights, Steph fought the fear of playing her own songs and began to perform in rooms of music lovers which led to years of solo and band shows in Sydney venues. Drawing inspiration from Mazzy Star and Gillian Welch, Steph continues to explore her melancholic sound with each release. Steph broke into the Scene in 2022 when she released her Debut Single “Ballerina” and spent the following months releasing a string of singles that led her to the release of her Debut self titled EP. Steph teamed up with local Sydney producer Tim McArtney (Lisa Mitchell, Gurrumul, Gang of Youths, and Jarryd James) to bring the collection of folk songs to life. The debut release captures the nuanced emotions of love and relationships through her intricate storytelling. A new EP is coming from Steph in 2025. A collection of songs written over the last few years and co-written with producer Pete Covington (Thelma Plum, Annie Hamilton, Luke Kelly) who Steph collaborated with on the 5 track project. For now you can catch Steph playing around the UK.
Steph Wood has performed in Sofar Sydney, Sofar Newcastle AUS, and Sofar Edinburgh.
