Siselabonga is a hybrid collective that fuses music from West and South Africa with occidental sounds. Thereby world-musical clichés are circumvented and the listener is taken into unknown realms. Afro Folk meets Kora Rock'n'Roll - with this formula the sound could be described. Siselabonga originates in the french expression si c'est bon and siyabonga, the Zulu word for "thank you" and represents joy and gratitude. The collective is composed of Nongoma Ndlovu singer and producer from Zimbabwe and South Africa and the two Swiss musicians Fabio Meier, percussionist and Gregory Schärer, bassist. Depending on the engagement Siselabonga performs in different formations and collaborates with guest musicians.
