Sherita Perez

"Sherita Perez is the most diverse singer and Indie musician from the Texas Gulf Coast yet. She cites a wide variety of musical influences such as Joni Mitchell, Amy Winehouse, Stevie Nicks, Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin. Listening to these greats has helped Sherita develop a talent for crossing genres easily. When asked what’s on her playlist right now she’ll tell you, “…anything before 1978 because I like the sound of older recordings. The lyrics were more emotional and well structured.” Able to jump from solo act to full band performance with the snap of her fingers, Sherita brings a genuine attitude and a stage presence that fills any room. In fact, she’s performed at the legendary CBGB’s, House of Blues, and has a weekly residency at Axelrad, Houston’s most popular beer garden. She has delighted audiences at festivals and clubs across North America. Sherita recently went to the studio with notable Houston musicians, Kelly Doyle, Geoffrey Muller, Tank Lisenbe, and Will Van Horn, of Robert Ellis fame. They performed on the title track of her brand new EP, “Htown Love”. It was recorded at Houston’s oldest and most recognizable studio, SugarHill Recording Studios. The other track on this EP recorded at the same studio, “Under The Sheets”, features well known Houston musicians Nick Gaitan, Nathan Quick, The Mighty Orq, and Shawn Hayle. Sherita now has a blog with her partner and drummer, Nick Melcher, entitled Be Someone Blog. It is a travel blog, finding beautiful experiences, with beautiful people in beautiful places. The goal is to explore the people, places, and things that inspire us to reach farther to be some one. You can find the blog here at www.besomeone.love. They are currently working on their second tour for the blog in May featuring Central and Northern California. She has been featured in multiple publications including the Houston Press, Scene Magazine, and Free Press Houston. She has also recorded with famed producers Chris “Frenchie” Smith and Josh Applebee. She has also been featured on major market radio.
