Born in Manchester , Jamaica, Ruff Scott was inspired by the music world at a very young age. At only 14 he was already an upcoming DJ, writing his own lyrics. The conscious, straight to the point lyrical themes have justifiably earned him the nickname Mista Reality.Ruff Scott has performed with some of the biggest stars in Reggae gracing the stage with the likes of King Yellowman, Dennis Brown, Marcia Griffiths, Sugar Minott, The Easy All Stars, Frankie Paul, Beenie Man, Super Cat, Bounty Killer, Ken Boothe, U-Roy and many more.
In 1991 Ruff Scott released his first single titled "Riot". Several singles followed, the most well known of which was "Spider's Web"(1995), and the international release on Easy Star Records "What Goes Around" (1998).In 2001 he released his first album "Pray to Him".
In 2010-2011 Ruff Scott performed at the Bob Fest (Hawaii) ,Sierra Nevada Music Festival (California), Hemp Fest (Seattle, Washington), Chang Pai Reggae International Music Festival (Thailand) and Blackwater Music Festival (Live Oak, Florida).
His latest album , "Roots and Culture" produced and released by Cool Breeze Records in 2011, is to date his showcase work with 18 tracks of conscious lyrics and refreshing music on a variety of Reggae and Caribbean sounds, such as roots, dancehall, soca, ska and even contains some rhythmic R&B overtones.
