Rexford was founded in late 2012. Matthew Hashimoto, Derek Nelson, Floris Boere and Rob Hess came together to write kick-ass pop songs. Hashimoto has many notable accomplishments. In addition to him being an exceptional singer, he is an “Amateur Night at the Apollo” Winner, a Semi-Finalist of the “Oprah’s Karaoke Challenge” and a “The Voice - Hollywood” contestant. The three other members are gifted musicians that share a love for songwriting. The group was very successful in writing music together and within six months, Rexford began performing at several venues across New York City. With the help of Rexford’s growing fan base, the band raised the necessary funds to produce their debut EP “Good Lie”, which was released in May 2014 to extremely positive critical reception. Following the release of the album, the trio started performing as the headliner on weekends at popular music venues such as The Bitter End, Pianos and the famous Rockwood Music Hall.
Rexford’s fan base has been growing since, at live shows as well as online. The band’s Twitter page has grown to over 21,000 fans with people tweeting about the band and its music every day. On online music platform Pandora its songs have received over 25,000 plays. Rexford has also become one of the few independent bands that are “Verified by Facebook”, and have reached more than 3,000 loyal fans who have a great social media response. The band’s most recent single release “Both Ways”, can easily be called an instant hit with intense popularity on music platforms such as iTunes and Spotify.
