Ramya Pothuri

Ramya Pothuri is an RnB/Pop artist, from St. Louis, Missouri- infusing her sound with lustrous vocals, elements of dream pop, synth wave, and reflecting on themes of love, womanhood, and introspection. Her story is the not-so-typical experience of an American girl moving to a foreign country and how it lead to her journey into being an artist. When Ramya was 16, she left her quiet suburban life behind and moved to the busy streets of Mumbai, India. To cope with the homesickness and culture shock of the move, she buried herself in music and began writing songs as a way to feel closer to home. She slowly started performing her own material at venues and festivals such as the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Red Bull Tourbus, The NCPA, Rockwood Music Hall, and Sofar: St. Louis, Bombay, and New York City. Around this time she released her first independent EP, titled "We Never Left" on August 24th, 2016, and promoted it through her venture "The Living Room Tour", a series of house gigs around Mumbai. In 2017, Ramya completed a DIY tour of Sri Lanka, titled "The Quick And Dirty Tour", along with 5 other artists. Since the release of her EP, she has consistently released singles throughout the global pandemic. Ramya’s collaboration featuring Dropped Out, ‘ihatewhenihurtyou’ boasts over 100,000 streams on Spotify. Her music video for ‘Sunlight’, was featured on Kodak Film’s official Instagram page and Rolling Stone India, which writes about Ramya’s “luxuriant vocals and harmonies” along with “radiant keyboards, peaceful guitar plucking, and a tempered groove”. During the second wave, Ramya released ‘dream of us’ which featured on several playlists across Spotify and Apple Music. Her journey has led her to the entertainment capital of the World- Los Angeles, California where Ramya released ‘Complicated’, her collaboration with Artist Yashraj, and Dropped Out, featured on MTV India and VH1. She has been featured in Elle Magazine, Homegrown, and The Hindu just to name a few.
