Otto Hashmi is a multi-instrumentalist and Recorder player from London. With recent performances including supporting Shabbaka Hutchings (Sons of Kemet, Sun Ra Arkestra) at Brighton Festival and performing inside a former East German border tower, his work seeks to forge a new path on an often maligned instrument. His 2020 self-titled EP fused Recorder playing with sounds of UK Hiphop and Electronic music, described by London in Stereo as "a striking tribute to the diversity of London" and featured in publications such as Fred Perry Subculture and Mixmag. His upcoming project 'Music for the End Times' explores the sounds of London club culture in the wake of the pandemic, forging an apocalyptic union between hedonistic dance music and classical Recorder harmonies, and exploring how sounds of euphoria arise from the uncertainty of our modern times. As a session musician, Otto has performed on numerous recordings and toured internationally most notably with artist Suzi Wu, with performances including SXSW, Canadian Music Week, Tallin Music Week, Governors Ball, the Great Escape. He is a current masters student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. www.ottohashmi.com
