With the gruff rasp of an embittered sailor and the warmth of mum's vegetable stew, Northam has a knack for making every word find its mark. Held aloft by the velvety harmonies of Grace Phillips and Dylan Hamilton’s fervent saxophone, this unlikely trio weave enthrallingly vulnerable narratives of morose longings, jovial romances, and battles with the blue devil. Northam and the crew have made a strong entrance at a string of festivals including Newport Folk, Nightjar, Boarding Pass, Cygnet Folk, Backyard, and Castlemaine Fringe Festival. Their debut single ‘Into His Arms’ garnered community radio support and spent 5 consecutive weeks in the top 10 Triple J Unearthed Chart, peaking at #3. Following this success, Northam was selected as 1 of 7 songwriters to represent Australia in the London MX Music Exchange, and in 2020 he received mentoring from Alice Skye and Liz Stringer after winning the Push Songwriting Competition. Since then Northam has been working as the contemporary musician at The Australian Ballet School whilst recording a brand new EP with his 8-piece technicolour folk-rock band, The Elsewheres.
Oliver Northam has performed in Sofar Melbourne.
