Niall Mc Guigan is a musician and practicing music therapist from Castleblayney, Co.Monaghan, Ireland, now living in the Netherlands. Specializing in medical ethnomusicology, Niall has researched the topic of music & healing within shamanic & neo-shamanic traditions and also the development of therapeutic presence as a music therapist. His debut album “Awareness” is a collection of songs written over a period of six years expressing experiences of travel, education and self-discovery. Similar to the idea of songlines, a term used in aboriginal culture to describe songs that create a map, each song has a distinct story, life lesson or meditation that guides attention within, towards self-discovery and connection with the heart.
Niall's third album "Spiritual Anarchy" is a continuation from his debut Awareness album and is a reflection of the spiritual journey and the resulting breakdown of our psychological belief systems, ideologies, and social and cultural conditioning through self-inquiry and the desire for truth and true freedom.
The musical style is a return to Niall's rock roots, in keeping with the eclectic world music feel of his last album fusing Mongolian throat singing, reggae, folk, and alternative rock.
