Nakamara

You've heard of garage rock bands, but Nakamara manifested as a dorm room band. They're a trio that found each other despite coming from different parts of Texas such as San Marcos, Houston, and Fort Worth. Samuel Decker joined up with Wiley Reid after hearing the latter's drumming from his dorm. Azael Martinez was added as a bassist through mutual connections made in the midst of the Denton house venue scene. While Denton tossed and turned with the tragic losses of valuables venues such as Rubber Gloves and Hailey's, Nakamara kept jamming to build up their song repertoire. Now they're building up their live show performances with the Jonny Chais on the trumpet. They credit their success to the house shows they've played and attended in Denton, so it's a joy to be a part of Sofar Sounds secret house show series.
