MELD's sound can be described as "UniverSOUL." A cinematic, soulful experience with a powerful message of healing for our planet, people have likened Melanie Dewey (frontwoman/songwriter,) to a modern Janis Joplin / Tedeschi-Trucks meets Trevor Hall. In November 2020 shortly after the tragic loss of both her father and aunt, and amidst a national election and global pandemic, MELD's debut album "Words of the Water" was birthed into the world. Receiving praise from NPR, Forbes, Live for Live Music, The Tennessean, Music Crowns and more, the resiliency of Melanie's spirit shone through her music and inspired hearts everywhere. Mastered by Anthony Thogmartin (EarthCry, Papadosio,) and mixed by Paco Cosette (Sturgill Simpson,) and Michael Esser (Sheryl Crow, Robert Randolph,) the album was sculpted by many talented hands. Complete with messages of environmental activism and radical self love, the album is tied together with a spoken word meditation featuring Amber Lily, Marya Stark, Katie Buxton, Heather Christie, Shira Elias, Alanna Royale, Maureen Murphy, Jess Nolan, and Erin Boyd of Phantom Vanity. All earnings from this song are donated to an ocean cleanup organization. A strong believer of using the power of music for philanthropy, MELD has raised over $2000+ on tour for environmental charities in the past. "Words of the Water" is a follow up to her EP "H.U.R.T." (Healing Under Rising Truth,) which received nods from Nylon Mag, BTRToday, and more. In the past, MELD has toured with Ayla Nereo, and shared the stage with The Main Squeeze, Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, Zoogma, Brothers Past, Maggie Rose and many more. She has played music festivals such as Music On The Mothership Festival In Taos, New Mexico, A Lovely Time Fest, and Sonic Bloom. Based in Nashville, MELD's goal is to spread the healing of music as far and wide as possible. A refreshing dose of hope for the weary spirit, take a listen to "Words of the Water" if ever your soul needs watering.
