Mela Bee

Mela Bee is a singer-songwriter hailing from a small town just north of Toronto. Her musical journey began at the age of 5 when her father enrolled her in classical vocal lessons with Ian Garrett, renowned for his work with artists such as Shania Twain and Shawn Desman, at the Canadian Academy of Vocal Music. These early lessons ignited a passion within Mela, setting her on a path of musical discovery. Throughout her childhood, Mela eagerly participated in various Kiwanis Music Festival competitions, honing her performance skills and nurturing her love for the stage. These experiences shaped her artistic foundation and prepared her for the journey that lay ahead. As a vocal major at the esteemed Regional Arts Secondary School called Mayfield, Mela delved deeper into her craft. It was during this time that she developed a profound appreciation for Jazz, expanding her musical horizons and finding inspiration in the genre's timeless melodies and sophisticated harmonies. Through choir and solo performances, Mela's versatile vocal range allowed her to effortlessly transition between Alto and Soprano parts, showcasing her adaptability. Now, Mela Bee channels the diverse influences of her musical upbringing into her captivating songwriting. Blending the timeless essence of jazz with a modern indie pop sensibility, she brings a unique twist to the genre.
