Matt Brown is new school soul musician who lives in West Palm Beach, FL. Coming from a musical family, he has always been a student of music and an eager learner of his craft, now using his talents and education to immerse himself in a musical career.
With his roots in the church, where he started playing bass at 12, he has since expanded his repertoire to multiple instruments. His focus has always been bass, though, and he currently plays an Ibanez SR656. Since 2013, he’s blended funk, reggae, and rock with Making Faces as its bassist and vocalist, and in 2017 he started the soulful band Mood Swing. He released his first single, “Mona Lisa”, an original song that he wrote, composed, and performed, on Jan 22, 2018. His sound is best described as a jazz-soul fusion, and with influences like Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Snarky Puppy, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, Victor Wooten, Cory Henry, Weather Report, Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, Bilal, and Erykah Badu, it’s easy to see his taste emcompasses music that catches the ear and stimulates the mind.
