Marle Thomson

Warm, edgy, colorful, quirky and above all musical: Marle Thomson sings, touches, surprises and stands out with her music, in which space and time merge into a unique universe full of beats, loops, guitars, keys, and vocals. Her voice and songs contain deep layers, a mix of power and fragility. In 2016 Marle grabbed the attention of the Dutch audience with prominent performances and a well-received EP. Marle performed at various festivals and stages, such as Fashionweek Amsterdam, Sustainable Fashion Week, Amsterdam Woods Festival, the Vondelpark Open Air Theater, the launch of Vogue Living, Eurosonic / Noorderslag and also as opening act for British singer Heather Peace, Australian singer Mark Wilkinson in Paradiso, Myles Sanko and performed at the mainstage at the Museumplein. She toured with Ruben Hein and recorded a duet with Typhoon. In 2018 Marle went on her first ever UK tour to promote her EP and album THE CANOPY - ACOUSTIC, an acoustic album which was released earlier in 2017. Elle Magazine called out Marle ‘Sound of 2017’ and a power women that you should not miss. This year represents new music, Marle is writing new material and is ready to release in 2019: “Writing these new songs was (and still is!) a process of diving into another search of who I am as a songwriter, musician and storyteller. What do I want to express with my songs? What do I want to tell? I recorded basic demo’s at home and tried out new ideas in front of a live audience. The new songs carry a certain melancholia in them, this fee-ling of ‘longing’, or so called ‘saudade’. This past year has been a very challenging one and I’m embracing my vulnerability. These songs are very honest and the process has been therapeutic, literally. The new songs are about the process of learning to let go of expectations; letting go of the picture we all have in our mind of how it is supposed to be.
