Kayla Korpics is an 18 year old indie-pop artist based in Tampa, Florida. Inspired by her parents who were both musicians, she began writing music at the age of 13 as a way of coping with being bullied. Although music was her escape, her music never left her bedroom until she signed up and won a singing contest through the StarMaker app in February of 2015. She had severe stage-fright as a result of being bullied and entered the contest as a way of proving to herself the possibility of gaining courage and self-confidence over time. With no expectations of winning, the contest led her to performing on the main stage at Playlist Live, alongside Tessa Violet, in front of thousands. Later that year, she continued to collaborate and work with StarMaker which led to the release of a cover music video collaboration of a ‘Major Lazer’ and ‘X-Ambassadors’ tune with Youtube stars, Corey Gray, Jake Coco, and Tay Watts. While in Los Angeles, shooting this collab, she also had the opportunity to work with various songwriters and work up a collection of songs. While Kayla’s main instrument is piano, you may also hear her playing the ukulele. Her musical inspirations vary, however she is primarily inspired by Amy Winehouse, Jon Bellion, and Blackbear. Kayla just began playing out locally in April of 2016 and has been performing all around the Tampa/St.Pete area. She looks forward to continuing and hopes to eventually go on tour sometime soon.
Kayla Korpics has performed in Sofar Tampa.
