Kavin Payne (fka Christopher K.P. Brown) has worked in the Philadelphia Poetry scene since 2009, serving as a publisher, event organizer, spoken word promoter, and as a performance poet. A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, KP self-published his first collection of poems when he was 16 years old, selling over 200 copies at $20 a piece in the 11th grade. He is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where he majored in African American Studies with minors in Creative Writing and Studio Art. His poetry tends to focus on building community, practicing self care, and breaking down the psyche of the Black male raised in America.
Kavin Payne has performed in Sofar Philadelphia, Sofar Washington D.C., and Sofar Boston.
