Born and raised in the countryside, surrounded by hills and nature, near a small town called Balcarce, in the south of Buenos Aires. Karina’s passion for music awoke during her childhood and by age 14 she had already done various live performances. When she was 19 she moved to Liverpool to study at Paul McCartney’s Performing Arts School LIPA, graduating with Distinction. A year later, she won the annual ACM Songwriting competition, ruled by Warner Chappell, with her song “Only You”. In 2011 Karina launched her debut EP ‘Two Winters’, recorded at Dilute Studios in Guildford, England. During the next 2 years she toured around the UK, performing at hundreds of venues and festivals, including Staycation Festival, Beach Break and Battfest. In 2014, soon after her return to Argentina, Karina played at Niceto Club opening for Los Alamos album launch, quickly gaining attention from the local press. She has since supported two international artists, ‘Iron & Wine’(USA) and ‘A Banda mais bonita da Cidade’ (Brazil). In October 2015 Exiles Records released her first album ‘Casa del Viento’ on CD, followed by a digital launch in January 2016. ‘Casa del Viento’ was well received by the press with plenty of airplay and great reviews on mainstream media such as Rolling Stone, Billboard and Inrockuptibles magazines. Karina has performed on TV (Much Music LA and CM-Canal de la Música) in several occasions. In March, her song ‘No le digas qué hacer’ was featured on Spotify as viral song of the day across Latin America, currently nearing 800,000 plays.
