Ask anyone to generefy Joseph & Maia’s music and you’ll get a mixed response. Sitting somewhere between Alt/Country/Folk/Pop – the duo find inspiration in the music of artists old and new. Ryan Adams, Bruce Springstein, Noah Gundersen and The Paper Kites are all artists that the pair take musical notes from, while coming up with something distinctly “J&M” in their song writing process.
Joseph & Maia have been working as independent artists since late 2014, when they left their record label (Sony NZ) to gain creative control of their music and career decisions. In May of 2015, the pair released their crowdfunded record, Sorrento, and soon after left NZ shores to embark on an indefinite “tour” throughout Europe, building things from the ground up with their captivating and raw live show while gaining a hardworking reputation.
The last three years has seen J&M work with and play alongside artists such as Rodriguez, Passenger, Dotan and Avalanche City. For the better part of 2016 Joseph & Maia will be on the road making friends and fans along the way, while working towards their third release, aimed to drop later in the year.
