Joan Fort is a Spanish guitarist and composer based in Amsterdam (NL), where he graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Temple University of Philadelphia with a Master's Degree in Jazz Guitar. Previously, he completed his bachelor's degree at the prestigious ESMUC in Barcelona. Throughout his career, Joan has had the privilege of playing and collaborating with world-renowned musicians such as Dick Oatts, Jeremy Pelt, Jorge Rossy, Bill McHenry, Benjamin Herman, Jasper Blom, Rita Payés, and Magalí Datzira. In 2023, his first album was released with one of his co-led projects, The Dam Jawn, featuring the legendary New York saxophonist Dick Oatts, titled "Master St". Their second album is in the works and is expected to be released at the end of 2024, also featuring the collaboration of Dick Oatts, with prestigious label Cellar Live! from NYC. In Summer 2024 they will play at North Sea Jazz with renown trumpetist Jeremy Pelt. "Joan Fort Trio" is one of the upcoming projects of the Spanish guitarist & composer, alongside fellow bandmates Philip Lewin (bass) and David Puime (drums). Their debut album will be released in the end of 2024, and will feature collaborations with two Dutch greats: Timothy Banhcet on piano and Sanna van Vliet on voice, as well as the Italian young star Paolo Petrecca on trumpet. The album will consist of a mix of Joan's original compositions and a fine selection of some of his favorite compositions from relevant jazz composers, arranged for this setting.
