Following a cross-country solar eclipse pilgrimage and impromptu tour in the summer of 2017, the transcendent Alternative Folk trio, JEMS, was born. Through collaborations on a variety of projects, the trio discovered how auspiciously their voices blended together, creating a “fourth voice” sonically and artistically, melding their individual perspectives and varied influences. Propelled by the excitement surrounding their live shows and self-titled debut album, they gained notable attention in the LA music scene and went on to showcase songs in the documentary series “Music Diaries” (produced by Spectrum One), performed on NPR/World Cafe Live, and toured with She & Him in the summer of 2022, among other highlights. JEMS’ sophomore album, “Back Around,” is an expansive landscape of enchanting harmonies, adventurous instrumentals, poignant themes and compelling storytelling. Through rich three-part harmonies, JEMS weaves stories, sounds, and raw emotion with a shimmering fervor. Produced by Justin Glasco and JEMS, key players on the album include Adam Tressler (Aimee Mann, Kacey Musgraves), Adam Christgau (Angel Olsen, Lucius, Tegan & Sara), Francisco Ojeda (The Strike, She & Him), engineer Jesse String (Leonard Cohen, Prince), and mixed/mastered by Daniel Goodwin (Kevin Morby, Bob Weir). Listeners of all kinds are captivated by the songwriting prowess and vocal alchemy of JEMS.
JEMS has performed in Sofar San Francisco, Sofar Los Angeles, Sofar San Diego, Sofar Austin, Sofar Santa Barbara, and Sofar Seattle.
