Jackary is a 22 year old gay singer/songwriter originally from Washington, D.C. He is currently based in Miami, Florida finishing up his degree in Musicianship, Artistry Development, and Entrepreneurship. Lax’s voice has been described as bright, easily recognizable, and raw. Drawing influence from artists such as Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and Aaliyah, Lax takes a 90s R&B-influenced sound and puts it in a modern context. His musical style has been compared to artists along the lines of SZA, Frank Ocean, Jessie Reyez, and Jhene Aiko due to the blunt, unadulterated nature of his lyrical content and the production style he employs. Lax is currently working on his debut EP which is set to be released in the Fall of 2018 which he plans to promote while working on his master’s degree in Arts Presenting & Live Entertainment Management at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
