Humphrey is a young English baritone from Oxford. Humphrey is actively part of different opera productions such as Puccini’s La Boheme for Hampstead Garden Opera and Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti. He has been touring around Europe and the BBC Proms with the Monteverdi Choir in the production of Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini Opera. Humphrey also regularly appears for Sofar Sounds in their exciting London series, newly enriched with Classical performers in more relaxed venues. These, help reframe classical music in more familiar settings, helping to encourage its appreciation away from the traditional concert situations.
Originally from Harwich, George began to play the piano from scratch, self-taught, at the age of fourteen. Soon after his first formal lessons was giving concerts throughout East Anglia, including in Braintree, Clacton, Colchester, Felixstowe and Long Melford. In 2013 he won the Tendring Rotary Club Young Musician Competition and as a result gave his Concerto debut with the Clacton Concert Orchestra.
George’s career as an accompanist has presented recital opportunities at the German Embassy in London, The Akademie Der Künste in Berlin, Peterborough Cathedral, St George’s Bristol, St Luke’s Brighton and St Leonard’s Bledington as part of the Bledington Music Festival.
