Girl Named Nino

Girl Named Nino is a Chicago- based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, self taught polyglot and producer. Having moved to the U.S. as a teenager from the country of Georgia, Nino attended DePaul University Music School on a Classical Voice Scholarship, putting her first band together with the Jazz Major counterparts. Nino has since released several albums, toured the US with her band, started an indie label (Moonlight Daughter Records), wrote original songs for a film. She was recently invited to be a voting member of the Recording Academy (class of 2024). Girl Named Nino was voted Best Singer Songwriter of the Year in the Chicago Reader in 2023 and was name checked in a Rock N Roll Time Travel book by Andy Frye (Rolling Stone; Forbes; ESPN). She has been described as "Ever-evolving" (Richard Milne, 93XRT Local Anesthetic), "Rising Star of Indie, Soul, World Music and Jazz" (Daily Herald) & "A fantastic musician in her own right" (Tony Sarabia, WBEZ Radio M). PRESS “Girl with blue hair, deep voice and immutable energy continues to open doors, create opportunities for others and evolve her voice whilst telling her story in the city of music.” Mariam Ugrekhey. Voice Of America "It may be a safe bet that Nino Arobelidze is a name that you’ll hear a lot more going forward."- Robert Chiarito, The Chicago Ambassador “She imbues her music… with a surreal vibe. The songs are less stories as much as they are frozen moments of feeling, evoking memories and emotions through elements of jazz, pop and electronica.” Brian Shamie (Daily Herald)
