Freed Mushaga

Freed Mushaga is a talented singer, songwriter, and lawyer from Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is known for his unique blend of Soul and African Pop music, drawing inspiration from traditional Congolese sounds and contemporary influences. His music carries powerful messages about peace, love, social justice, and hope. Freed made his professional debut in 2020 in Bukavu, and quickly distinguished himself with performances at the French Institute of Bukavu and the Izulu Festival. A key milestone in his career was performing at the Halle de la Gombe in Kinshasa in October 2021. In 2022, his project JUAl won the Music In Africa Live Fund, and he was named among the 100 most influential personalities in South Kivu. Since 2023, Freed has expanded his influence in East Africa with notable performances in Kigali, Bujumbura, and Kampala. As the Director of the JUA – World Music Meeting regional project, he promotes peace, unity, and resilience through various initiatives. Part of the East African Records collective, Freed continues to grow his community and has accumulated over 16,000 followers on Facebook. His music is influenced by icons like Angélique Kidjo and Michael Jackson, and his hit single "COME NOW" has resonated with a pan-African audience earning him a finalist spot in the SixtyPercentOfUs Nigerian Challenge.
