Emiel De Jaegher is a musician, composer, and educator from Chicago, Illinois, currently based in New York City. He has performed, recorded, and collaborated with legendary artists such as John Patitucci, Kris Davis, and Mehmet Ali Sanlikol. He was awarded Outstanding Trumpet Soloist by Wynton Marsalis in the inaugural 2020 Jazz Rudin Jazz Championship and selected as a member of the prestigious 2019 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program. He placed third in the 2019 National Trumpet Competition Jazz Division and placed as a semifinalist in the small classical ensemble division. He has performed at venues and festivals including The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, BBC Radio Foyle, Ulster Hall, Panama Jazz Festival, Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the San Jose Jazz Festival. In December 2021, he graduated with a Master of Music from Berklee College of Music on a full tuition scholarship to Berklee Global Jazz Institute under the direction of maestro Danilo Perez and the tutelage of George Garzone and Nicholas Payton. Before Berklee, he graduated from the prestigious Eastman School of Music under the direction of maestro Bill Dobbins. He currently maintains a busy performance schedule throughout the New York City/New England area. In addition to performing his original music, he has performed over 400 weddings and events with the Silver Arrow Band, Soulsystem Orchestras, Beantown – Wilson Stevens, and Red Soda Band.
