Born 14th of April 1980, in Ørsta, Norway.
The new album from Egil Olsen is an uplifting and romantic collection of passionate rock songs. This is a louder and more upbeat effort from the unconventional, often quiet and tender singer, claimed “one of Norway’s very best songwriters”. ‘You and Me Against the World’ is an album about indestructible love in a mad mad world. About going through thick and thin together. About staying together - forever.
The album is written and recorded in Norway and LA. The loud guitars, drums and bass, combined with horns, vintage keyboards and subtle programming create a classic but refreshing sound. The lyrics are warm and honest and full of hope, with an apocalyptic undertone.
The idiosyncratic singer/songwriter has, since his 2007 solo debut ‘I am a Singer/Songwriter’, released several critically acclaimed albums, as well as a couple of live albums, on his own little label. There's even a tribute album (on limited vinyl) with Norwegian artists covering his songs. He has made music for films and TV and has recently had several songs in the game 'Dreamfall' - where he also shows up as an animated character with an in-game concert! Besides producing and playing most instruments himself, he also makes his own music videos and artwork, and has an autobiographical comic strip about the "pathetic life of a relatively unknown superstar".
Egil Olsen has done countless shows in Norway, China, Japan, US and Germany. He is known for his entertaining live shows where his honest and intimate music is carefully balanced with his unpredictable humor and charming stage presence. He performs mostly solo, but often appears on stage with musicians and different band constellations.
