Hailing from Amsterdam, Dusty Stray features the alt-folk repertoire of Texan expat Jonathan Brown. He delves into universal themes of heartbreak, loneliness and death with a twisted sense of humor and a soothing touch. The songs are firmly rooted in all things Americana (due to Brown's Texan upbringing and musicianship) but always reach out to new horizons, be they through toy instrument accompaniment, electronica, space echoes or outsider art. The musical roots of his forefathers are combined with sounds and visions of the future. Dusty Stray has performed throughout Europe and the US including South By Southwest, the Glastonbury Festival and BBC radio. Top Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant listed Dusty Stray’s debut album among the 10 best albums of the year. The following five albums received international acclaim as well. Dusty Stray has worked with master producers Ken Stringfellow (REM, The Posies, Big Star) and Kramer (Low, Ween, Galaxie 500) and has had international attention from Simon Raymonde (Bella Union), Tom Robinson (BBC) and Irwin Chusid (WFMU).
Dusty Stray has performed in Sofar Essen.
