Rapper Dupree G.O.D aka WordSpit was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. The name Dupree G.O.D was given by his brother, who was influenced by Cannibus, Nas, and Rakim. When Dupree G.O.D was known as WordSpit, his band "The ILLest" was the first hip hop act to progress on Americas Got Talent show. His rapping career began to gain traction during 2009 in New York's underground music scene by performing at open mics, solo shows, and random freestyle sessions.
