Diana Ezerex

Born and raised in southern Germany, Diana Ezerex began singing and playing instruments at the age of 3, taking lessons in the recorder and saxophone and teaching herself how to play keys, guitar and songwriting. At the age of 9 she had written her first song - a children’s melody for her church. Even though Ezerex never felt like music would be a realistic career path for her, she continued working on her musical skills, writing songs only as personal therapy. While studying her bachelor in educational science (followed by a master’s degree in cultural mediation in 2023), more opportunities opened up for her to present her music, touring solo in 2016 and 2017 and putting together a band. During and after the „Popkurs“ at Hamburg University for Music & Theatre she started working on songs, trying to find her voice & sound, always hoping that her music inspires societal change. While her debut album, produced by Thorsten Rheinschmidt, deals with topics that are linked to incarceration as she started playing concerts in prisons in 2017, her latest releases deal with more personal topics: her identity. As a German-Nigerian woman living in Germany she deals with a lot of „in betweens“, trying to find her place, dealing with sense of belonging, feeling of home, acceptance and racism. Diana’s distinctive voice and style of songwriting have earned her widespread plaudits as an artist opening for Cory Wong, Fantastische Vier and performing at Das FEST Karlsruhe in 2023. Credits in Rolling Stone Germany, ZEIT, ZDF and other print and online media underline her success in approaching social issues with pop culture.
