Desta French

LatinX powerhouse, Desta French emerged from the growing London music scene in 2018 and has since steadily become one of the most unique and influential voices of Latin crossover music coming out of Europe. Her range of inspirations span from RnB, Salsa, Cumbia, Latin Jazz and Hip Hop which you can hear peppered all throughout her music - contributing to her colourful catalogue, and unmistakable sound. 
 Songs like 'Guajira' and 'Into the Wave' from her debut Bi - Lingual EP ‘SAN LAZARUS’ in 2020 have been laying down a blueprint for a new generation of British Latinx creatives — unique from the internationally-recognised diaspora established in the United States and the rest of the world. A passionate performer and songwriter, her position in the U.K. scene is unique. She is the first U.K. born LatinX artist to have an entirely Spanish song played on BBC Radio, supported by prominent tastemakers like DJ Target and Jamz Supernova 2024 started off with a bang for Desta, as she is just hot off the heels of her first North American tour which started at SXSW,Texas and was supported by PRS, The British Underground and The British Council. During her time in the States, she embarked on her first documentary on Mexican/ American diaspora culture which will be out this year and also spent four months in Mexico creating a new string of releases set for this year, some of which we heard for the very first time at her recent sold out headline show at The Jazz Cafe.
