Charlie O’Connor is a Cornish singer/songwriter-poet, based in Brighton (UK), with an appetite for creating as an act of rebellion. She writes and sings her wildly empowering, emotional, witty and sometimes outrageous creations with Celtic undertones, soulful vocals, art-rock flair and indie/alt ethereal soundscapes. Taking inspiration from the poetically charged works of Patti Smith, Regina Spektor, Amanda Palmer and Florence and The Machine, Charlie launches this proudly DIY studio project with ‘Wolfchild EP’, coming early summer 2024. Her upcoming debut piece is a multi-track blend of folklore and song-craft which delves into climate change, raucous female empowerment, the trials and tribulations of modern dating, the sadness of grief, the joy of loving and the rollercoaster of learning how to parent yourself. Where Charlie truly excels is on stage; where she manages to combine heart-felt storytelling and deep topics alongside fun and playfulness in an authentic, charismatic way that leaves audiences feeling held and like they are an integral part of the event. She's gearing up to play Secret Garden Party this summer as well as supporting Charm of Finches in Brighton this June, Small World Festival in May, and many more awaiting confirmation including Shambala and Noisily festivals.
