Amata Bob is a genre-bending musician and music producer based in Cochin, Kerala. She is a trained Carnatic vocalist and a former Syrian Christian chorister whose versatility parks her voice in multiple singing styles, from metal to musical theater. She cherry-picks sounds that best express her sonic narrative. Not surprisingly, one may come across an avant-garde song today and a power ballad tomorrow in her repertoire. With over ten years of experience, Amata is no stranger to the music industry: she performed to critical praise with international artists, including Asmaa' Azaizeh (International Theatre Festival of Kerala, 2023) and Nicolas Jaar (Free.wav 2.0, 2023); her stage act opened for Chinmayi and Govind Vasantha (Fanfare The Buzzaar, 2019); she was among the Top 100 artists of the AR Rahman-curated Nexa Music 2022; and she lent vocals for Indian National Film Award-winning projects ("Empty Days" by Basic CJ from "Oru Paathiraa Swapnam Pole" [translated as "Like a Midnight Dream" in Malayalam], 2021). Apart from personal projects, Amata also leads a women-first music collective for improving inclusivity and creating safe spaces for all musicians in the local context. She is also an enterprising sound artist who has begun collaborating with indigenous "tholpaavakoothu" (translated as shadow puppetry in Malayalam) artists and borrowing from her neuroscience research background for upcoming projects.
Amata Bob has performed in Sofar Kochi.
